NJC Students Reinvent Porcelain Press Newsletter

STERLING – While college students carry cell phones, Ipods and iPads, at Northeastern Junior College, administrators have figured out one way to share important, timely information through the Porcelain Press, a newsletter that appears on the inside door of every bathroom stall on campus.

College students may be pre-occupied with technology, but everyone has to sometime or the other pause for the cause and the Porcelain Press has proven an effective way to get out messages.

The one page newsletter is updated frequently and includes important dates, events and other tidbits of information that pertain to college life.

The Porcelain Press has been a communication tool on the NJC campus for two years now, but this year, it received an artistic boost when students in the Graphic Design I class were asked to redesign the logo. Aspiring designers Derek Wright (right) had the winning logo design and then Matt Cornell (left) helped the newsletter’s author Steve Smith, director of Counseling, revamp the layout to make a template that is neater and easier to read.
